Magic The Gathering – 2013 PAX Exhibit Booth
A collaboration between Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro), M1 Interactive and Sitelines. Wizards of the Coast came to Sitelines with a job proposal in early 2013. The task was to totally turnkey a Magic The Gathering exhibit booth for the 2013 PAX (Penny Arcade Expo). We were to design, build and manage the whole operation. After the initial meetings with the Magic The Gathering team, we learned that their goal was to create an attraction that the public could participate in and ultimately bring attention to the new products that were being released. After lengthy brainstorming sessions, we eventually came up with the idea of an interactive motion sensing game, that utilized the entire exhibit booth. Since that year's theme revolved around a character that had the power to create and control fire. We thought it would be awesome to give people the chance to have the same power. Sketching concepts and story boarding only got us so far. Since we did not have any experience with creating a fully customized, light projection based, video game using a motion sensor. We reached out to M1 Interactive to help us develop the game. Their technical know how was crucial to taking the game experience to the next level. Our flourishing partnership led to create an impressive exhibit booth, that both the client and the PAX attendees fell in love with. Credit: Wizards of the Coast. M1 Interactive.
